Full Visor Bascinet Helmet, 14th Century, 1.6mm
The 14th-century bascinet is an ideal helmet for a heavily armoured mounted medieval knight. It was significantly popular among medieval armies because of its versatility and a perfect balance between protection and mobility. Just attach one of our chainmail aventails (sold separately) to its vervelles, and you will get an optimum combination for your next LARP or reenactment, offering a great look and protection. This historic reproduction is HANDMADE from sturdy 14 gauge (1.6mm) mild steel, lined with a comfortable and secure padded liner. This helmet has an inner circumference of 68 cm (before padded liner attachment) and will fit most head circumferences from about 58cm to 61cm, depending on the shape of the wearer's head. If you desire to wear an additional padded cap, then measure your head circumference while wearing it. (The padded liner already attached inside the helmet is usually enough for most adult male heads). The total height is about 26.5 cm with a (26.5×33.5) cm visor. The base (with its visor fully enclosed) measures about (22×17.5) cm. Each eye space measures about (0.9×0.8) cm. Note: This product is carefully coated with a layer of oil when packaged that acts as a temporary (protective) layer against corrosion (rust), which can easily be wiped off using any oil remover or even a dry cloth. You will receive a belt pouch, which is made in our leather workshop from the same leather (approx. 2mm thick) as the belt (and all other belts made from pre-coloured brown leather).It measures 20cm wide, 12cm high and 5cm deep and is perfect for packing your most important small items and stowing them away safely. The belt supplied is made from the same leather, but 3-3.5mm thick. This makes it practically indestructible. The belt is worn knotted, the adjustable length is 88cm to 150cm.
